Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday season! As always the holidays were busy, but good. It is also a time to reflect on where we’ve been, where we are, and where we want to go in different aspects of our lives. One of the things I want to work on in 2017 is my nutrition. For me this is definitely an area of continual learning!
In order to get back on track Dave and I decided to do the 3 Day Refresh. It is a 3 day plant based cleanse. It is a super mini version of the Ultimate Reset that I did back in September. There are many reasons people decide to do a cleanse: weight loss, jump start healthy eating, get ready for a specific event. Dave and I decided that after the holidays filled with cheer and lots of yummy cookies we wanted to do this together to get back on track with healthy eating!
Day 1: I am going to post a pic of what I ate today. I want to share it because I know sometimes the thought of a cleanse can sound intimidating. When I first looked into all of this I was like “no way – I won’t be able to do it and I will constantly be in the bathroom.” I will tell you that I feel really good so far. I am in the bathroom peeing a lot! It isn’t just about the cleanse, I am also drinking lots of water which we all should be doing each day anyway. Meal prep is the key! I have 4 children that still need dinner so having Dave’s and my dinner ready to go was so helpful tonight! This afternoon was the hardest. My “go to” snack tends to be a spoonful of peanut butter with dark chocolate chips. I was craving peanut butter or something crunchy – not necessarily because I was hungry, but that is my usual ritual. It is hard to break habits! This is when I have to DIG DEEP and remember why I started. If you don’t do something different than you’ve been doing, change can’t happen.
One of the biggest lessons I continue to learn since I started my fitness journey 2 years ago is to ENJOY the journey and be open to new things! I am learning to love the skin I am in right now and enjoying setting goals for myself along the way. Life is too short not to ENJOY it!
Stay tuned for day 2!
