Who is Missiann?

My name is Melissa, nickname Missiann (thanks to my Mom)!  I am a wife and mother of 4.  I started my Fitness Journey in January of 2015.  I had finally had enough!

In the past I was usually the tall awkward girl.  I was always thin and didn’t do any formal sports unless you count being a cheerleader in elementary school.  I was always active but didn’t do any formal sports like my brother and sister.  In college and my twenties I was a gym girl.  I went regularly with my friends and went bike riding, rollerblading on a consistent basis.

In 2001 my life changed drastically in so many ways.  I became pregnant with triplets!  After several years of trying for a baby my husband and I were blessed with 3.  It was a high risk pregnancy which included gestational diabetes and bed rest.  I also had to gain weight – a lot of weight so all three of my babies could thrive.   In October 2001 we were blessed with 2 healthy girls and 1 boy.  They were all over 4pounds and our crazy continued.  Just as I was starting to really lose weight and get back on track we found out we were expecting again!  I know what you’re probably thinking – WHAT???

Well just 13 months after I gave birth to my triplets, I gave birth to my daughter in November 2002.  That’s right – my children are 13 months apart and I honestly can’t imagine it any other way.

Over the next several years I took off the weight and realized that with 4 children doing home workout programs worked best for me.

In 2009 my family and I decided to move from NY to FL.  I was still working out at home and trying to figure it all out.  I struggled.  I started putting off my workouts.  I was indulging with my eating, drinking more wine.  I don’t think I realized what a vicious cycle I was caught up in until I started seeing myself in pictures.  I wasn’t liking the way I looked.  I wasn’t fitting in to clothes.  I was making excuses – this must have shrunk.  I don’t like this shirt anymore.

It took me a while to come to terms with my new found reality.  In November of 2014 we were away visiting family.  I had packed my favorite jeans.  I hadn’t worn them in a while, but they were always my looser, comfortable pair.  Well, when I went to go put them on, I couldn’t get them all the way up over my thighs.  I was shocked.  I knew I had put on weight but I don’t think I realized how bad it really was.  I had reached a crossroads

For Christmas my husband and I decided to get each other a workout program.  We had purchased programs form Beachbody in the past so we visited their website.  I found Insanity Max 30 and this program literally changed my life.  I know that sounds cliché, but it’s true .  I loved the idea that the workouts were 30 minutes.  I could wrap my brain around 30 minutes.

On January 2, 2015 my fitness journey officially began.  I started doing Insanity Max 30 everyday.  I began meal prepping my food so I would make good choices.

In December of 2015, I decided to become a Beachbody Coach, which brings us to today.  I love working out from home.  I wake up, I workout, I drink Shakeology , and I share my progress on social media with family and friends.  I am doing what I love every day!  I am so grateful and feel very blessed.
